Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities

$2,800$2,800 per school year through the end of 2026-2027, the same amount regardless of assessed need. Separate funding for disability-related services and equipment is also available: up to $20,000 per school year from the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Disabilities, and up to $2,000 from the Ontario Bursary for Students with Disabilities.

About this award

This federal grant gives students with a permanent or a persistent or prolonged disability a set amount each year of study, on top of other OSAP aid. Ontario students are considered when they apply for OSAP and self-identify as having a disability. Through a separate application with their school's accessibility office, students can also get funding for disability-related services and equipment such as tutors, note-takers or assistive technology.

Who can apply

  • Has a permanent disability or a persistent or prolonged disability recognized by the Canada Student Financial Assistance Program
  • Provides documents showing the disability with the application
  • Has financial need
  • Enrolled in a qualified program at a designated school
  • In Ontario, students with a disability can get full-time OSAP while taking 40% or more of a full course load
