About this award

The National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation gives one $5,000 bursary each year to a child of an active or deceased member of the National Police Federation, which represents RCMP members. Applicants must be 17 to 25, have at least a 70% average, and plan full-time undergraduate study in Canada. Selection is based on grades, community involvement, references and a 500-word essay. Member children can also apply to the foundation's public bursaries.

Who can apply

  • Child (including adopted) of an active National Police Federation member, or of a deceased NPF member
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Age 17 to 25 at the application deadline
  • Planning to start or continue full-time undergraduate study at an accredited Canadian university, college or polytechnic
  • At least one year left in the program at the time of application
  • Minimum 70% cumulative average over the last three terms
  • Children of NPF salaried employees are not eligible; past NPFBF winners cannot reapply
