About this award

This Ontario grant pays tuition, fees and books for students in selected health programs in Northern, Eastern and Southwestern Ontario. In return, students agree to work in the same region after they graduate. In North Bay, eligible programs have included nursing and medical laboratory programs at Canadore College and Nipissing University. If the work commitment is not completed, the grant turns into a loan.

Who can apply

  • Ontario resident who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person
  • Enrolled in an eligible priority program at an eligible campus; the current list includes Canadore College Practical Nursing (North Bay, Parry Sound), Canadore Medical Laboratory Technology (North Bay), the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Canadore College and Nipissing University (North Bay), and the CTS Canadian Career College Paramedic Diploma (North Bay)
  • Commit to working in the same region after graduating, at least 180 days (6 months) for each full year of study funded
  • Not receiving funding from the BEGIN Initiative, Better Jobs Ontario or the Skills Development Fund
  • The grant becomes a repayable loan if conditions, including the work commitment, are not met
