$1,500 to $6,000First-year amounts: 90.0 to 91.9% gets the Western Admission Scholarship, $1,500 plus $1,000 for an optional study abroad experience. 92.0 to 100% gets the Western Scholarship of Distinction, $2,500 plus $1,000 study abroad. The top high school averages get one of 250 Western Scholarships of Excellence, $6,000 plus $2,000 study abroad. Study abroad money is forfeited if not used.
Deadline
No fixed dateNo application required. Ontario high school applicants selected for the Scholarship of Excellence are emailed in mid to late May. Distinction and Admission Scholarship recipients are notified at their uwo.ca email in mid to late September. Summer school grades that affect eligibility must reach Western by August 31.

About this award

Western automatically gives an admission scholarship to students admitted to its main campus from high school with a final average of 90% or higher. First-year amounts are $1,500 for 90.0 to 91.9% and $2,500 for 92% or higher, and the 250 students with the top averages get $6,000. Each award also includes extra money if the student later takes part in an approved study abroad experience. Averages are not rounded.

Who can apply

  • Admitted to an undergraduate program at Western's main campus directly from secondary school
  • Final admission average of 90.0% or higher (includes the program's prerequisite courses)
  • Registered in first-year full-time studies
  • Not combined with National, Schulich Leader, Continue in Canada or Welcome to Canada scholarships
  • Students who previously attended a post-secondary institution are generally not eligible
  • Home-schooled applicants are generally not eligible

What to submit

  • No separate application (automatic)
  • Admitted directly from secondary school to Western's main campus
  • Full-time registration (minimum 3.5 courses)
